The many Valar are respected by Elves and also widely worshipped by humans. All are held in honour by followers of this religion, which underpins elven society, and the temples or groves have shrines to each of the Valar. When ships of the elves sail to the Utmost West they pass into the realm of Valinor where the Valar dwell. (Melkor was once a Vala, but turned to evil and became Morgoth, the Black Enemy).
Not all the spells listed are available to every cleric all of the time. Each cleric chooses up to six of the Valar to venerate, and these provide their repertoire of spells. Each Vala/Valie has a list of spells associated with him/her. Choosing can be deferred until specific spells are required, but once a spell is invoked from any particular Power, the choice is made. However, this is not irrevocable as new choices can be made each High Holy Day. Note that each of the Valar is associated with one other, and should be chosen in these pairs. In addition, there are spells commonly available to all.

Elven clerics choose up to six patron Valar (three pairs) and may only call upon spells provided by them. They may change patrons each Holy Day.
